There are various kinds of pickled white cabbage.  Each one is different – as unique as the region or country they are from.  Here’s a recipe for pickled white cabbage your taste buds might find appetizing.

For this recipe, you will need the following:

  • 300 grams of white cabbage that has been shredded
  • 50 grams of carrots that has been peeled and shredded
  • A tablespoon of salt
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar
  • 100 ml of white rice or distilled white vinegar

Once you have all the ingredients ready, start off mixing the shredded cabbage and carrots together in a bowl.  Sprinkle salt over the vegetables and toss.  Let the salt seep into the cabbage and carrots by letting it sit for two to three hours.

After that, you would notice there’s more water in your bowl than when you first started.  Drain all the excess water out of the bowl.  If needed, you can even squeeze the vegetables to remove all moisture.

Then, pour the vinegar and sugar in another bowl and mix.  Make sure the sugar has been completely dissolved.  Add the shredded cabbage and carrots and toss again.

Let the mixture stand for 24 hours before serving.
